This session will discuss hate speech on digital platforms, from social media to online gaming and the metaverse. Our panel will discuss the state of the art efforts to tackle online hate, policy and technology challenges, and the latest on regulation. Participants will then be divided into small groups for further discussion on the topic with each other and our speakers.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

Virtual tour of the museum exhibition #FakeImages<\/span><\/span><\/h5>

A guide from the #FakeImages exhibition in Belgium will lead attendees through a virtual tour of the museum exhibition.<\/p>

This exhibition is about the thousands of messages and images come to us every day, flooding us through social media, television, and the printed press. Fake news and fake images invariably sneak in: sometimes they are innocent, sometimes they are extremely dangerous. People are often highly susceptible to these images.<\/p>

The exhibition explores Nazi hate propaganda from World War II as well as contemporary examples of fake images. Mechanisms that have a major impact on contemporary ideas and on society are examined and visitors will discover how to break through common patterns of misleading information such as stereotypes, prejudice, racism, deception and humour.”<\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>

Plenary Panel on Extremism & Exploitation<\/span><\/span><\/h5>

The use of digital platforms to aid in violent extremism (terrorism) and child exploitation will be examined in our second panel. Our experts will discuss the latest efforts to address these harms and the challenges that have arisen with the increased use of alternative and minimally moderated platforms.\u00a0<\/em>Participants will then be divided into small groups for further discussion on the topic with each other and our speakers.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>
